NEST MARRONNIER

NEST MARRONNIER is een langlopend afscheidsproces van de oude wilde paardenkastje bovenaan in het Park van Vorst tijdens de kunstenzomer Park Poétik 2022. KNEPH en gastkunstenaars in samenwerking met de bewoners rond het park en wandelaars. De boom lijdt aan de kastanjebloedingsziekte en is stervende. Al ziet hij er niet ziek uit en krijgt hij zelfs nog blaadjes en bloesems deze lente, toch wordt hij van binnenuit uitgehold door een ziekmakende bacterie.

De boom kan op een natuurlijke manier sterven. De stam blijft staan en kan zich afleggen om nieuwe scheuten te laten schieten. Aangetaste takken kunnen afbreken en daarom wordt de boom afgeschermd door hekken om de wandelaars te beschermen.

Het beeld is een boei van hoop voor de toekomst. Omdat het behoud van de natuur een absolute noodzaak is voor de hele mensheid.

NEST MARRONNIER est un processus de longue haleine qui consiste à dire adieu au vieux marronnier situé en haut du Parc de Forest pendant l'été artistique Park Poétik 2022. KNEPH et artstes invités en collaboration avec les habitants des environs du parc et les promeneurs. L'arbre souffre de la brûlure du châtaignier et est en train de mourir. Bien qu'il n'ait pas l'air malade et qu'il a même des feuilles et des fleurs au printemps, il est rongé de l'intérieur par une bactérie pathogène.

L'arbre peut mourir naturellement. Le tronc reste debout et peut se ramifier pour donner naissance à de nouvelles pousses. Les branches touchées peuvent se casser, c'est pourquoi l'arbre est protégé par des clôtures pour protéger les promeneurs.

La sculpture est une bouée d'espoir pour l'avenir. Parce que la préservation de la nature est une nécessité absolue pour toute l'humanité.

NEST MARRONNIER is a long-running farewell process of the old horse chestnut at the top of the Park of Forest during the art summer Park Poétik 2022. KNEPH and guest artists together with the residents around the park and walkers. The tree suffers from bleeding chestnut disease and is dying. Although it doesn't look sick and even has leaves and blossoms this spring, it is still being eroded from the inside by a disease-causing bacteria.

The tree can die naturally. The trunk remains standing and can lay down to shoot new shoots. Affected branches can break off and therefore the tree is protected by fences to protect the walkers. The sculpted tree is a buoy of hope for the future. Because the conservation of nature is an absolute necessity for all mankind.

In een eerste fase gaf Charles Djeumou, kunstenaar uit Kameroen, vorige herfst nieuw leven aan deze reus die een historische getuige is en dreigt te verdwijnen. Het kappen beoogt een ceremoniële reconnectie met de natuur, de voorouders en het spirituele. De beelden die uit het hout tevoorschijn komen fluisteren ons hoop in voor de toekomst. Zo wordt deze transformerende boom een metafoor voor wat er op aarde gebeurt en is een bede tot een barmhartige coëxistentie van mens en natuur.

L'automne dernier, le sculpteur Charles Djeumou a donné une nouvelle vie à ce géant, témoin historique et en voie de disparition. Le travail du bois est conçu comme une cérémonie de reconnexion avec l’arbre et les images qui émergent nous murmurent l'espoir de l'avenir. Ainsi, la transformation de cet arbre devient une métaphore de ce qui se passe sur terre et une prière pour la coexistence heureuse de l'homme et de la nature.

In a first phase, Charles Djeumou, artist from Cameroon, gave new life to this giant who is a historical witness and is in danger of disappearing. The cutting aims a ceremonial reconnection with nature, the ancestors and the spiritual. The images emerging from the wood whisper hope for the future. This transforming tree thus becomes a metaphor for what is happening on earth and is a prayer for a merciful coexistence of man and nature.

De mens stelt zich wel de vraag wat de oorzaak kan zijn van de dramatische fenomenen op aarde maar legt dit uit vanuit een positief wetenschappelijke of economisch-politiek kader. We zien niet meer dat het dit overstijgt. Terugkeren naar de bron is de enige remedie om de rampen die de aarde teisteren, te keren. Onszelf verbinden met de bron van wie we zijn, de oorsprong van alles wat is, van creatie. Wij zijn verantwoordelijk voor harmonie en disharmonie.

De houten sculpturen sluiten aan bij de ceremoniële beelden van de Bamileke, Kameroen. Het zijn rituele overdrachtsbeelden van kennis voor de gehele mensheid.

Charles kreeg de toestemming om de omgehakte bomen in het Koninklijk Park van Laken te beeldhouwen. Een cyclisch proces tot herstel van ontwrichting tijdens het koloniale verleden? Nu kapt hij met rituele geste in de oude reus , de zieke wilde kastanjelaar, die destijds werd geplant tijdens de aanleg van het Park van Vorst door Koning Leopold.

L'homme se demande bien quelle pourrait être la cause des phénomènes dramatiques sur terre mais il l'explique dans un cadre scientifique ou économico-politique positif. Nous ne voyons plus qu'elle transcende cela. Le retour à la source est le seul remède pour inverser les désastres qui frappent la terre. Se connecter à la source de ce que nous sommes, à l'origine de tout ce qui est ce qui est la création. Nous sommes responsables de l'harmonie et de la dysharmonie.

Les sculptures en bois sont liées aux images cérémonielles des Bamileke, au Cameroun. Ils sont des images de transfert rituel de la connaissance pour toute l'humanité.

Charles a reçu l'autorisation de sculpter les arbres abattus dans le parc royal de Laeken. Un processus cyclique de récupération après les perturbations du passé colonial ? Maintenant, d'un geste rituel, il coupe le vieux géant, le marronnier malade, qui a été planté lors de la construction du Parc de la Forêt par le Roi Léopold.

Man does ask himself what could be the cause of the dramatic phenomena on earth but he explains it from a positive scientific or economic-political framework. We no longer see that it transcends this. Returning to the source is the only remedy to reverse the disasters that plague the earth. Connecting ourselves to the source of who we are, the origin of all that is, of creation. We are responsible for harmony and disharmony.

The wooden sculptures connect to the ceremonial images of the Bamileke, Cameroon. They are ritualistic transfer images of knowledge for all mankind.

Charles was given permission to sculpt the felled trees in the Royal Park of Laeken. A cyclical process of recovery from disruption during the colonial past? Now, with a ritual gesture, he sculpts in the old giant, the diseased horse chestnut tree, which was planted during the construction of the Park of Forest by King Leopold.

PASSAGE van een reus À PLUS TARD - OMMEGANG fase 2 (03/04 - 31/06)

Kunstenaar Charles Djeumou realiseerde eind 2021 vijf mobiele sculpturen uit de afgebroken takken.

In een tweede fase ontvangen buurtbewoners deze beeldhouwwerken en laten die circuleren van het ene gasthuis naar het andere.

Bedoeling is om het beeld eerder op een intieme manier in de huiskring te beleven gedurende een tweetal weken. Persoonlijke herinneringen aan deze boom of een boom worden geregistreerd wanneer de sculptuur weer verhuist. Vele souvenirs hebben te maken met een rouwproces: afscheid van een geliefde, overgan gnaar een andere levensfase .... De verhalen worden verwerkt in animatie-schildering en kunnen tijdens AWAKE (zie agenda) verteld worden in de avondschemering.

De gasthuizen kunnen een volgend huis aanduiden waar het beeld naar verhuist.

PASSAGE d'un géant À PLUS TARD - OMMEGANG phase 2 (03/04 - 31/06)

L'artiste Charles Djeumou a créé cinq sculptures mobiles à partir des branches cassées à la fin de l'année 2021.

Dans une deuxième phase, les habitants du quartier recevront ces sculptures et les feront circuler d'une maison d'hôtes à l'autre.

L'objectif est de faire l'expérience de la sculpture de manière intime dans le cercle de la maison pendant environ deux semaines. Les souvenirs personnels de cet arbre ou d'un arbre sont enregistrés lorsque la sculpture se déplace à nouveau. De nombreux souvenirs sont liés à un processus de deuil : adieu à un être cher, passage à une autre phase de la vie .....

Les histoires sont transformées en film animés et peuvent être racontées à la tombée de la nuit pendant AWAKE (voir agenda).

Les maisons d'hôtes peuvent indiquer la prochaine maison vers laquelle l'image va se déplacer.

PASSAGE of a giant À PLUS TARD - OMMEGANG phase 2 (03/04 - 31/06)

At the end of 2021, the artist Charles Djeumou created five mobile sculptures from the broken branches.
In a second phase, local residents receive these sculptures and let them circulate from one guest house to another.
The intention is to experience the image in an intimate way for two weeks. Personal memories of this tree or a tree are registered when the sculpture moves again. Many souvenirs have to do with a grieving process: farewell to a loved one, transition to a different phase of life .... The stories are processed in animation painting and can be told during aWAKkE (see agenda) in the evening twilight.
The guest houses can indicate a next house to which the image moves.

VERHALEN

Bij aankomst in een huis wordt het verhaal van Charles Djeumou (zie film bovenaan) getoond en de compilatie van verhalen van de bewoners die eenzelfde beeld in huis ontvingen. Een persoonlijk verhaal van de gasthuizen wordt geregistreerd wanneer het beeld wordt teruggehaald.

Enkele verhalen worden verwerkt in een animatiefilm die getoond zal worden op het afscheidsceremonie 26 augustus. Tijdens de wake (aWAKkE) kunnen de verhalen ook verteld worden en zoeken we ook getuigenissen van rouw in verschillende culturen.

HISTOIRES

A l'arrivée dans une maison, l'histoire de Charles Djeumou est montrée (voir le film en haut) et une compilation des histoires des résidents qui ont reçu la même image dans leur maison. Une histoire personnelle des maisons d'hôtes est enregistrée lorsque la statue est récupérée: des souvenirs de chacun-e à cet arbre en particulier ou à l'arbre en général seront récoltés.

Certaines de ces histoires feront l'objet d'un film d'animation qui sera projeté lors de la cérémonie d'adieu du 26 août. Au cours de la veillée (aWAKkE), les histoires peuvent également être racontées et nous recherchons des témoignages de deuil dans différentes cultures.

STORIES
Upon arrival in a house, the story of Charles Djeumou (see film at the top) is shown and the compilation of stories of the residents who received the same image in the house. A personal story of the guest houses is recorded when the image is retrieved.
Some stories will be processed in an animation film that will be shown at the farewell ceremony on 26 August. During the wake (aWAKkE) the stories can also be told and we also look for testimonies of mourning in different cultures.

De IJsheiligen zijn gepasseerd.

De wilde paardekastanjelaar bloeit en reikt met zijn takken naar de lentezon. Gezang welt op vanuit de harten van de drie Gratieën (J' Acaju) en beademt de omringenden met een innig sereen stemstrelen.

Een ruw woldekentje geeft warmte aan de onderstam.

In stilte worden kleipopjes gekneed en in de buikholte liggen schaduwbloemzaadjes. Als mummies worden ze omwikkeld met lakenstofrepen en op de aarde gelegd onder de kruin. Met potlood worden wensen geschreven en in de plooien van de wikkels verstopt.

Voor de kaarsjes worden uitgeblazen, intens luisterend naar elkaar, zingen de aanwezigen een zacht wiegelied.

De volle maan schijnt door het lover.

FR rituel des semailles

Les saints de glace sont passés.

Le marronnier fleurit et ses branches se tendent vers le soleil de printemps.

Les chansons jaillissent du cœur des trois Grâces (J' Acaju) et insufflent une voix sereine et intime à ceux qui les entourent.

Une couverture en laine brute donne de la chaleur au porte-greffe.

Des poupées d'argile sont pétries en silence et des graines d'ombellifères reposent dans la cavité abdominale. Comme les momies, elles sont enveloppés dans des bandes de drap de lits et sont déposés sur la terre sous la canopée.

Des souhaits sont écrits au crayon et cachés dans les plis des bandages.

Avant de' éteindre les bougies, en s'écoutant intensément les uns les autres, les participants chantent une douce berceuse.

La pleine lune brille à travers le feuillage.

The Ice Saints have passed.

The wild horse chestnut blossoms and its branches reach for the spring sun. Songs spring up from the hearts of the three Graces (J' Acaju) and breathe a serene and intimate voice into those around them.

A rough woolen blanket gives warmth to the rootstock.

Clay dolls are kneaded in silence and shadeflower seeds

lie in the abdominal cavity. Like mummies, they are wrapped in cloth and laid on the earth under the crown. Wishes are written in pencil and hidden in the folds of the wrappers.

Before the candles are blown out, intensely listening to each other, the people present sing a soft lullaby.

The full moon shines through the foliage.
